The year was 1971, Columbian cyclist Armando Gallo knew what to do.  Bicicletaria La Ruta was established on Southport and Belmont in Lakeview.  La Ruta, The Road,  would be Lakeview's original modern bicycle store.  Sometime later, Gallo adopted the roughly translated, On the Route, store moniker. 

After deciding to retire, Joanne, a local Chicagoan and dear friend to the store purchased  On the Route Bicycles from her mentor, Gallo. 

Since then, Joanne along with Jose the master mechanic and Cam the Lakeview manager have grown the business to 2 locations in Lakeview/Lincoln Park and Lincoln Square /Ravenswood neighborhoods.  


Lakeview:  The standalone flagship loft shop in Lakeview, is large and impressive.  22 foot lofted ceilings and brick walls transport you to the ultimate cycling chalet.  A leader in bike sales with Cannondale, Bianchi, and Raleigh bicycles. We carry all  bicyclists need, tires,helmets, locks, racks, computers, shoes, etc.                                                                                                                             

Lincoln Square:  Our quirky Lincoln Square location, at the northern Lincoln Square marquee, is ideally located.  The "Little Store that could", has become a hub in this neighborhood and beyond.  Cannondale bicycles, Bianchi, and Raleigh bicycles. And all bike accesories and parts needed for any and all types bike.
