Lakeview's original bicycle store, has now grown to serve the entire city, with three unique locations.

ON THE ROUTE PROUDLY DONATED TO THE HISTORIC INSTALLATION: "THE ART OF THE BICYCLE" EXHIBIT AT THE MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRIES  IN CHICAGO...CHECK US OUT, AT THE MUSEUM!

On the Route Bicycles was opened in 1971 by Colombian-born Armando Gallo and he devoted his life to the shop for 25 years.

In 1998, On the Route Bicycles was bought by Armando's empoyee, Denis Smith and his partner, Joanne McSweeney.

The two have grown the business from the standalone flagship loft shop in Lakeview, to two additional locations, the quirky and cozy Lincoln Square Store and a WE MOVED our downtown South Loop location to historic Printers Row (on the nations rated #1 bike lane) on Dearborn Avenue which is a sight to behold.

The mission of On the Route Bicycles is to serve neighborhood families, casual commuters, and serious cyclists alike. We  stock top rate gear, and provide value with the best customer service.

We continually strive to be Chicago's best bike shops.
